An outsole that bends with every step
The wave sole is Spingle's signature. We make it from scratch, starting with rubber we mix ourselves at our factory.
Then the shoe goes into a kiln, where heat and pressure cure the rubber and bond it to the leather, one pair at a time. It takes about an hour per pair, slower than pressing on a pre-made sole, but curing the rubber this way is what makes the bond last: it's vulcanization, the same process that keeps a sole from peeling away from the leather over years of wear.
The result is a sole that flexes with your toes as you walk, grips the ground, and stays comfortable mile after mile.
An insole that cushions and springs back
The insole is natural latex sponge, the same soft material used in cosmetic puffs. It cushions each step and springs back into shape, wear after wear. A gentle rise at the arch supports your foot and keeps you steady.
An upper that softens around your foot
We choose the softest leathers and canvas we can find for the upper. Not every pair uses the same one. Kangaroo leather is the standout: soft from the first wear, yet strong and light enough that soccer players trust it for their cleats. Inside, the lining is sewn with as few stitch lines as possible, and a firm counter holds your heel in place as you walk.
Handmade in Fuchu, a town that lives by its craft
Our factory is in Fuchu, a small city in western Japan's Hiroshima Prefecture. Its craftsmen make fine furniture. They make textiles, ironwork, and their own miso. We've been part of that since 1933.
Most of Japan's shoe industry moved production overseas. We stayed. Every pair of Spingle sneakers is still built here, by craftsmen who give each one their time and care. From here, we ship them to you, anywhere in the world.
A fit only Spingle can make
Millimeter by millimeter, toward a better fit
From day one, we've held to two commitments: shoes that feel right the moment you put them on, and a design you can recognize as Spingle from across the street. Both come down to the hands of our craftsmen.
In development, they adjust each part of the shoe millimeter by millimeter against the last, the wooden form that gives each shoe its shape. Every pair passes through many hands before it is finished.
Everything we know, in one pair
The shoe holds your foot from the first step. Your legs stay fresh after a day of walking. That's comfort. It's what we build for.
Everything we've learned goes into each pair. Put them on once, and you'll feel it.
Our flagship SP-110 hasn't changed since 2004. Not because we stopped looking at it. Because there is nothing left to improve.
That year, a designer brand carried our shoes onto the runways at the Paris and Milan collections. Later, the SP-110 won a Good Design Award. We still didn't change it.
Spingle has never run a sale. We price each pair for the materials and the hours of handwork inside it, and we stand by that price all year. What you pay is what a pair is worth.
